Introduction on Blackjack
The goal of Blackjack is that your cards value should be as close to 21 as possible, but furthermore to beat the dealer. So when your card value is 21, under 21 and higher than that of the dealer, you win. It is also possible that you have a low card value, but the dealer goes bust, then you win too. The strategy is also estabilished on this rule. Cards with numbers have their own value, pictures are worth 10 and the Aces worth 11 or 1. This makes that you can get an Ace whilst having a current card value of over 10 (10+11 would make 21), but when you have 11 (or higher) and get an Ace, it counts as 1. Therefore we thought it would be wise to give you a little Blackjack Strategy to get started and start winning straight away.
The house’s task in Blackjack is a different, because they see your hand, but in their turn they can not stop under 17. So the dealer will have to keep drawing cards, until he reaches 17 or over. Which can lead to the dealer going bust and the player winning.
You have Blackjack when you have a 10 card and an ace. If that is the value of your first two cards, you win automaticly. If the bank’s first card is an ace then you will be asked whether you want to take some extra insurance or not (you “buy” the insurance). Simple tip: usually it doesn’t worth to buy insurance! One of the reasons to buy insurance is when you are definitely on a loosing strike or if the house has not had Blackjack for 2-3 times before in a row. When only the second card of the house is an ace then you autmaticly lose… that’s Blackjack. And it is always better to us a Blackjack Strategy!
As said before, the winner is who has higher cards, but the maximum value of your cards can be 21. You get double payout of what you have bet when you win and 2,5x when you have Blackjack. If it happens to be draw with the dealer, then you get your bet back.
Strategy to start winning Blackjack
It seems that Blackjack is a simple game when it comes down to how much or how close you need to get to 21. But here is the catch, the card deck consists of more than one deck, you play against the dealer who has to keep going and often there are other players involved as well. So different factors that influence your odds. But first you need to check the dealer’s first card and your cards. One advantage or disadvantage, your second card is always being delt open and keep open, whereas the dealer’s second card is closed. So you must check the tables below to know what to do and to know how to minimalize the advantage of the house.
Let us start by explaining what the meaning of “SOFT” and “HARD” hands is. Soft hand is when you have an ace in the first round dealt. A hard hand is when you do not get an Ace or when you have 3 cards. The last is the case is when you got the two cards with the same value. (5,5…. J,K).
We check the dealer’s card (first row) then our cards (shown in the left column):
D = double, if it is possible (if not, then you just hit it)
D/S = double, if not possible we stand
H = hit
S = stand
After the first hit it is not a soft hand anymore but HARD!
Check the dealer’s card (first row) then your cards (shown in the left column):
D = double, if not available we hit
H = hit
S = stand
You got the same value cards (and want to split)
You often see that you get the option to ‘split a pair’ when shown two cards that have the same value. So when to split a pair? Because you get the option to split them and then draw new (cards) on each of them. Well after you split them, your bet is doubled just like if you were playing with two hands.
S = split
– = do not split (hard hands)
As you can see above, you always split Aces and the 8 pairs but never split 10 and 5 pairs. After you split an Ace pair naturally they will be soft hands, if not it can become Blackjacks
Betting Blackjack strategy
Unlike the roulette strategy, there is no extra options here. We can use the Martingale or the Anti-Martingale Blackjack strategy. According to the game and the TopLiveCasino UK experience, it seems that we better use a version of the Anti-Martingale strategy in Blackjack. Keep in mind then that if we won raise the bet with one unit. If we lose then we will lower the next bet with one unit. Always keep in mind that this is not a guarantee to more winnings, but a way to minimalize losings and optimize winnings. A way to compensate both ways. Herewith an example, the demo of the strategy:
|Round||Bet||Won / Lose||Net earnings|
Slowly but surely there will be a point when the bet could rise up to 10. But these are small bets for starters. You can always use bigger amounts, but stick to the same principle. It is always a case of looking at the maximum betting allowed at the table and use the same steps to not lose too much. As we like our players winning, more than casinos winning.
But we would never want to ‘control’ your enthusiasm. So always adapt your betting strategy in Blackjack to the mood you are in. When you feel good and catch the good winning series, but also how to deal with the bad, losing ones, don’t let the set strategy fully control you. If you can win easily 2-3-4 times after each other with 20-21-s then it was a good serie, after that time you can try doubling the bet. If it’s a losing strike or a changing one, there is always a handy trick to put up the minimal bet after a loss or just finish the game if you feel like it. But just start with the standard strategy above. Once you have mastered the game and feel confident about predicting the odds and next possible steps, then you can form your own Blackjack strategy. Before you know it, you have earned so much that you need a resort to relax again…
